cott Bader at Engineering Design-show: to Present Crestabond Range of Methacrylate Adhesives

Scott Bader Ltd. is exhibiting and giving a presentation workshop at the UK Engineering Design Show 2013, taking place on 2 & 3 Oct at the Jaguar Exhibition Hall, Ricoh Arena, Coventry, UK. On the Scott Bader stand (F40) a range of specialty products for designing and cost effectively manufacturing high performance composite components will be featured.

There will be a special focus, both on their stand and in the workshop presentation, on the Crestabond range of primer-less methacrylate structural adhesives, suitable for rapidly bonding a wide variety of dissimilar substrates including composites, metals and plastics commonly used in industrial applications. The Crestabond range covers a variety of 1:1 and 10:1 products, available in both cartridges and drums. They are used across a wide range of industries and applications.

For engineers looking to produce lighter weight glass or carbon fibre reinforced composite materials, or with applications requiring exceptional fire, smoke and toxicity retardant (FST) properties, one of the Crestapol high performance resins available may provide the ideal solution. The complete range of Crestapol urethane acrylate based acrylic resins will also be featured on the Scott Bader stand.

Crestapol resins are fabricated at room temperature using conventional polyester production processes, including infusion, pultrusion and filament winding, offering manufacturers scope for producing composite parts of virtually any shape and size. According to Scott Baders published technical performance data, Crestapol grades are available which can be glass or carbon fibre reinforced and heavily filled to provide a combination of superior mechanical strength and toughness with outstanding FST and high temperature performance, meeting many of the stringent FST regulations for building and passenger rail applications. Crestapol acrylic resins offer a real alternative to phenolics, epoxies and some engineering thermoplastics.

On the morning of the first day of the show, there is an adhesives workshop presentation titled: Getting to grips with adhesives, which will be given by Dr. Gavin Creech from Scott Baders R & D Applications Engineering Group.
