UL & Intertek Approve Daubond® U8508-10 Hot Melt PUR Adhesive

Daubond® U8508-10 from Daubert Chemical is a single component, hot melt adhesive that reacts with moisture to become a cross-linked, thermoset adhesive. When cured, it exhibits excellent resistance to heat, cold, and water. Designed for assembly operations requiring long open times, Daubond® U8508-10 allows assembled parts to be handled shortly after nipping or pressing, with bond strength increasing over time (full cure takes place 1-2 days afterwards, depending on moisture conditions).

These properties have been widely recognized by companies that manufacture doors, paneling, and other lamination applications. One company that wanted to explore its use in the manufacture of fire-rated doors asked Daubert to fire test U8508-10.

A fully assembled steel door (consisting of an interior foam core adhered to metal on both sides) was submitted for testing by Intertek and UL. The steel door endured two hours at 1980°F. The UL approval applies when the maximum adhesive application rate is 11 grams/ft² or less, while the Intertek (Warnock-Hersey) approval applies when the maximum adhesive rate is 8 grams/ft² or less.
