DELO Develops DELO-DUOPOX AD840 Epoxy Resin for Automobiles

Welding and screwing are old hats. DELO Industrial Adhesives has developed a two-component epoxy resin that enables joining of dissimilar materials, especially in the automobile sector. This is how DELO makes a considerable contribution to the trend towards increasingly light-weight and thus more energy-efficient vehicles.

DELO-DUOPOX AD840 sets new standards for structural bonding in the automotive industry. This cutting-edge adhesive features excellent adhesion to metals, plastic and smooth surface. In addition, it equalizes tensions between dissimilar materials. Sensitive and brittle materials, such as carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) and glass-fiber-reinforced plastic (GFRP) can be bonded in an easy and reliable way as well. This offers great freedom of design.

The two-component DELO-DUOPOX AD840 cures at room temperature and can be used within a temperature range from -40 °C to +140 °C. Even in areas subject to high radiant heat, for example in motor engines, the epoxy resin gives stable strength.

In addition, the high-strength construction adhesive can easily be processed just like a one-component adhesive using the DELO-AUTOMIX system, where the product is dispensed from a double cartridge through a static mixing tube.
