Adhesive and Sealant Councils Spring Convention Sets Another Record with 587 Attendees

Bethesda, MD -- The Adhesive and Sealant Council (ASC) announces that 587 industry professionals attended its Spring Convention and EXPO held in Atlanta, GA. The meeting broke the most recent attendance record of 511 professionals that registered for the Spring Convention, set in 2011.

Registrants included full paid registrants, partial paid, or one-day registrants, EXPO only paid, and EXPO booth personnel.

"Strong attendance leads to dynamic conversations, meetings and positive value for all attendees," notes Matthew E. Croson, President of ASC. "ASC was pleased to see the industry rally around the program content, expanded EXPO and improving economy, and take the time to invest in their business by participating in the Convention."

COMMITTEES MEET, FOCUS ON ADDING VALUE TO MEMBERSHIP

As part of the Convention, ASCs five standing committee held meetings, and moved projects forward as they support the effort to add value to ASC members. The following committees met and discussed new programs that will be unveiled in 2013 and 2014:

Global Resources Committee - The Committee agreed to develop two market reports (Central/South America, and Pressure Sensitive Adhesives). The Committee also discussed how to support an upcoming China Delegation tour, and received an update on the North American and Asia Market Reports.

Marketing Committee - The Committee agreed to develop a new "speed networking" concept and host it at the Fall Convention and EXPO in Minneapolis, MN. The Committee also "green-lighted" a Convention meeting app that will help registrants plan their attendance and connect with other attendees.

Membership Committee - The Committee discussed the new Convention format, membership recruitment efforts and a new scorecard.

Regulatory Affairs Committee - The Committee reviewed a new "ASC Response" software tool that will allow members to respond directly to Senators, Representatives, regulatory agencies and other organizations with position statements on issues that directly impact members.

Technical Affairs - The Committee reviewed Training Academy progress and planned for a formal review of the program. The Committee also discussed an investment the Council is making with the addition of a Technical Services Manager.

BOARD SETS AGENDA FOR REMAINDER OF 2013

On Sunday, April 21, the day before the Convention and EXPO, the ASC Board of Directors met and discussed ASC business, agreeing to the following:

ASC will undergo a formal Long Range Plan review in 2013. The most recent Long Range Plan was initiated in 2005, and added to in 2008 and 2010; the Board agreed that with so many new programs being developed, as well as a completely changed industry landscape, the time is right for a new discussion on the Councils Long Range Plans.

ASC will proactively connect with end users via a to-be-developed "Industry Roadshow" program. Just like the Councils move towards direct engagement via a transformed adhesives/sealants.org website, the Council wants to connect directly with end users and illustrate the value adhesives and sealants can have for a variety of industries as part of a long term plan to educate customers.

ASCs leadership reviewed the Councils dues structure and agreed to have no adjustments or increases to dues, while also working to simplify the dues structure where possible, following industry best practices.

"More than ever, ASCs leadership - from the Board to the Committees - are 100% focused on adding value via programs and services that educate industry professionals, advance our interests to important audiences, and connect members in new and different ways," notes Croson. "ASC leaders are creating a strong virtuous cycle that allows them to leverage their dues and fees to ensure the strength of an industry profession, promote what we are all about in order to grow the adhesive and sealant pie, and connect in ways that truly matter and go well beyond the status quo. The time is now for any company not part of leading ASC forward to consider its resources and determine how to leverage a membership investment."
