Emerald Appoints Cemsac to Distribute its Nychem Specialty Nitrile & Butadiene Emulsion Range

CUYAHOGA FALLS, OH -- Emerald Performance Materials announces that it has appointed Cemsac Corporation as its distributor to Central US territory for the Nychem Specialty Nitrile and Butadiene Emulsion product lines.

Cemsac Corporation, based in Ellisville, Missouri, is a specialty chemical distributor serving the paint, coating, adhesive, elastomer, plastic and printing ink markets since 1978. Cemsacs distribution and sales network covers a broad territory in the Central and Southern region of the United States for these industries. They will be representing Emeralds nitrile product line in Missouri, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and certain parts of Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.

"Since Cemsac Corporation is already a distributor for our CVC Thermoset Specialties business the addition of our Specialty Nitrile and Butadiene Emulsion products offers synergies for both companies."

Emeralds Nychem Specialty emulsions include a comprehensive line of nitrile, SB and ABS latex emulsions that provide a combination of properties superior to other polymers. Nychem latexes perform exceptionally well in tough end-use environments. They offer superior grease, oil, fat and solvent resistance. They are also abrasion and caustic resistant, yet soft, elastic and resilient. Their performance features can be further enhanced through vulcanization and, in some cases, cross linked through heat-reactive or carboxyl functional groups present in certain products.

Nychem Specialty emulsions feature Tg values ranging from -50 C to +20 C to accommodate a wide range of applications, such as gasket, paper coatings, tape barrier/top coatings, leather finishing, textile coatings ,coal tar sealing compounds, nonwoven binders, adhesives, metal coatings and others. Many Nychem products contain low/no formaldehyde and are APE free. Nychem products are offered in grades that have FDA clearances for use in adhesives and components of coatings for indirect food contact under FDA 175.105 and in rubber articles for repeated use under FDA 177.2600.

For more than 50 years, the Nychem product line was sold under the Hycar brand, which was well known for its quality and superior technology foundation. Emerald rebranded the product line following the divestiture of the business from its predecessor company. Since the inception of Emerald in 2006, Nychem Specialty Nitrile and Butadiene Emulsion products continue to be manufactured at the companys ISO-9001 certified facility in Akron, Ohio. The Akron facility is recognized as a National Historic Chemical Landmark for its leading role in the research, development and early production of synthetic rubber production in the U.S. and was one of the first American producers of synthetic rubber latex. Emerald continues to be positioned today as a North American leader in the production of Nitrile Latex products for specialty applications.
