Dow Corning at LFI 2013: to Unveil Silicone-based Products Designed LED Lamps

Midland, Mich. -- Dow Corning, a global leader in silicones, silicon-based technology and innovation, announced that it will introduce an innovative new thermal management silicone technology for light emitting diode (LED) lamps and luminaires at LIGHTFAIR International (LFI) booth #159. They will exhibit these materials as part of their growing family of industry-leading LED lighting solutions. The company will present live demonstrations at its booth to spotlight how silicones can increase efficiency, expand LED design options and provide greatly improved processability, while underscoring how these products are fast becoming the materials of choice in critical lamp and luminaire applications.

Dow Cornings planned new-product introduction at LFI 2013 will encompass four silicone-based materials designed to improve performance and reliability of LED lighting through enhanced thermal management. They will enable LED designers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to integrate multiple functions into fewer parts, or to incorporate smaller or more complex features. The new materials expand manufacturing options to help LED lamp and luminaire OEMs potentially lower the total cost of ownership of their products.

Dow Cornings exhibit will also feature three demonstration stations that illustrate the many performance benefits the companys silicone technologies provide to the LED lamp and luminaire industry. The first station will demonstrate the proven efficiencies that silicones can offer to LED light output. Station two will showcase the tremendous design flexibility Dow Cornings materials offer. The third station will spotlight the exceptional processability of silicones with live demonstrations of an injection molding machine producing optical silicone components. These benefits and the advantages silicones offer vs. traditional materials will also be showcased in a wide array of demanding lamp and luminaire applications.

In addition to these activities, Dow Corning experts will be on hand at LFI 2013 to discuss how silicone technology is driving new advances in LED design and manufacturing.

LIGHTFAIR International will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Penn., from April 23 - 25.
