Delayed action adhesives are an important type of label used for pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food packaging. DAA labels do not require a release liner prior to or during application. Thus, they offer cost advantages. DAA are not inherently pressure sensitive such as conventional rubber based adhesives and acrylic polymers. DAA are applied by the manufacturer and as supplied are not pressure sensitive or tacky to the touch and require no release liner. Just prior to final label application on the line, the label is momentarily heated and the label becomes pressure sensitive to the touch.
