At Chinacoat 2012, Croda Coatings & Polymers will present its range of bio-based building blocks and speciality surfactants. The product range offers environmentally friendly solutions for resin manufacturers and formulators in the coatings and adhesives industry.
Croda presented a technical paper at this conference entitled: Novel, low viscosity dimer diamine for bridging flexibility and hardness for marine & protective coatings by Mr. Hans Ridderikhoff, Research & Technology Manager at the Ballroom, Ramada Plaza Guangzhou.
For many years Croda has offered a range of bio-based building blocks with a renewable nature for the use in high performance coatings such as polyurethane dispersions, epoxy toughened coatings and UV-curable coatings. These building blocks bring excellent hydrolytic stability, outdoor stability, flexibility and adhesion to a wide range of substrates including plastic, metal and wood. Croda has now developed a range of new amine-functional low viscosity dimer products.
For epoxy resins, the technology provides similar benefits to dimer fatty acid based polyamide curatives, such as flexibility and impact resistance. However, this new curative allows for high solids formulations with good water repellency, pigment wetting and excellent durability. For polyurea, the technology brings improved moisture and chemical resistance together with an excellent surface finish and impact resistance. Furthermore, the novel amine functional materials are fully bio-based INSERT INTO [lzx].[dbo].[tb_new]([id],[type],[title],[source],[personal],[image],[contents],[time],[number]) VALUES (100% renewable carbon) and are completely non-volatile, thus bringing clear environmental and health benefits to the end-users.
Croda will be presenting a technology paper at this event entitled: Speciality Fatty Bio-based Monomers for Coatings presented by Dr. Paul Cameron, Research & Technology Manager on Thursday 29 November 2012, 1500 - 1545 Hrs in Hall 11.2, Meeting Zone 11.2M25-34, GICEC.
Dimer fatty acids have been used for many years to bring high performance to materials such as epoxy coatings and hotmelt polyamide adhesives. Croda has recently developed many new grades of related bio-based monomers. These bring a number of special properties including better color, UV / heat / colour stability and controlled functionality, in conjunction with other long established benefits such as hydrolytic stability, adhesion and flexibility. The technology can also bring low viscosity, enabling low VOC, and can be used in many types of coating, including polyurethane dispersion, radcure, epoxy and saturated polyester.
Croda Coatings & Polymers provides environmentally friendly solutions to resin manufacturers, paint formulators and additive producers. They offer a wide range of high performance bio-based building blocks and speciality surfactants based on carefully selected raw materials.
Croda is an innovative partner offering its customers the highest level of technical service, applications know-how and a variety of technology platforms. They continuously develop new and exciting green concepts to add value to innovations.
