Dynea is the first to offer an Emulsion Polymer Isocyanate (EPI) adhesive approved in Europe for contactless application finger jointing. The new adhesive, Prefere 6151, can therefore be used in the new finger jointing machines where application of adhesives without contact gives higher capacity and easier application, offering finger-jointing producers an alternative to PU adhesives for contactless application.

Prefere 6151 is the first EPI adhesive in Europe that has been tested and approved for contactless application for finger joint production by the Norsk Treteknisk Institut (NTI) as well as the Materials Testing Institute, University of Stuttgart (MPA Stuttgart). Prefere 6151 EPI offers many benefits, including easy application and higher capacity, enabling gluing of more joints per minute. Prefere 6151 has no post-foaming and does not need solvents for cleaning. It is approved for gluing at temperatures as low as 5° C degrees.

Facts about Dynea’s EPI adhesive
Emulsion Polymer Isocyanate (EPI) adhesives are used for production of different types of wood-based products such as: solid wood panels of different types, parquet, window frames, furniture parts, plywood, finger joints and load-bearing constructions like glulam beams and I-beams. The advantages obtained by the use of EPI adhesives are fast setting speed, cold curing, a light glue line, low creep of the glue line and high moisture resistance. EPI adhesives are cold-setting with very good adhesion to difficult hardwoods and are fast curing even at high wood moisture content.
